Responsible Gambling at 1Red Australia: Self-Exclusion and Support
Gambling at 1Red is intended as entertainment for adults aged 18 and over, played only with money and time you can spare. This page covers how self-exclusion works, the early signs of harm, habits that keep play in check and independent organisations that offer help.
1Red's commitment
For most people gambling is a leisure activity, yet for some it turns into a recognised medical condition. 1Red therefore bars minors, can ask for proof of age at any point and lets every player exclude themselves for a set period or permanently.
Awareness of the risks is the best protection, which is why this page contains no promotions. Questions about safer play can be sent to support by e-mail free of charge, and your information is not shared without your consent.

Self-exclusion in detail
Self-exclusion lets you shut yourself out of all 1Red gambling services for a period of your choosing. Where gambling has already become a problem, 1Red recommends an indefinite exclusion.
E-mail [email protected] from your registered address and say how long the exclusion should last; requests made in live chat are not actioned. While it is in place you cannot deposit, gamble, receive promotions, open a new account or withdraw your balance. A temporary exclusion cannot be cut short and ends with an e-mail notice; a permanent one can be revoked only in writing, with a 7-day cooling-off period, and 1Red may decline or extend it if signs of problem gambling remain.
Early warning signs
- Sessions regularly run longer or cost more than planned.
- You try to win back what you have lost.
- Money for bills, rent or groceries goes on gambling.
- You borrow or sell things to keep playing.
- You hide your gambling from people close to you.
- You feel on edge when you cannot gamble.
- Work, study or relationships are affected.
If several of these apply, stop and seek advice now.
Everyday safeguards
- Know your budget: decide the amount before depositing and use only entertainment money.
- Keep to a time limit: end the session when the time is up and keep other interests going.
- Let losses go: never chase them.
- Play with a clear head: not when stressed, depressed or affected by medication, drugs or alcohol.
- Take breaks: stop when tired or distracted.
- Use one account: easier to keep track of time and spending.
Minors and shared devices
Nobody under 18, or under the legal age of their jurisdiction, may gamble at 1Red. A valid government-issued photo ID can be requested at any time, identity verification services are used, and suspected under-age accounts are suspended pending investigation.
Keep login details away from children, avoid saving passwords on family devices and consider a parental-control filter that blocks gambling sites.
Independent support
- Gambling Therapy: free online support and counselling for people affected by gambling — www.gamblingtherapy.org.
- Gamblers Anonymous: peer-support fellowship for compulsive gamblers — www.gamblersanonymous.org.
Both are independent of 1Red.
Helping a friend or family member
Raise your concerns calmly and without blame, describing what you have noticed. Listen, and make it clear you want to help.
Paying debts or lending money tends to prolong the problem. Encourage professional support, such as the organisations above or a GP, and look after your own wellbeing.

Responsible gambling FAQ
How do I self-exclude from 1Red?
Send an e-mail to [email protected] from your registered address, stating the period or that you want a permanent exclusion. Chat requests are not processed. It takes effect once implemented and confirmed to you.
Can I end a self-exclusion early?
No for temporary exclusions, which run to their end date. A permanent exclusion can be revoked in writing after a 7-day cooling-off period, and 1Red may refuse if problem gambling seems to persist.
What happens to my balance?
It stays in the account but cannot be withdrawn until the account is reactivated after the exclusion. Consider this before sending the request.
Where can I get help?
Gambling Therapy and Gamblers Anonymous offer independent support, and a GP or other health professional can help too. Neither organisation is linked to 1Red.
